Be Still And Know He is Near
On days when the crashing ocean waves are not visible and the shores are miles away, I can look at my basket of shells and remember the refreshment and peace found walking ankle deep in white foam. In the same way, when God seems so invisible to me, I just need to open His Word or slip in a CD filled with praises of Him–and He is there.
“Be still and know that I am God;” Psalm 46:10a NIV
Where do you find God when He seems far away?
May you find His peace in the video of Hillsong singing, “Still.”

I love this post Janis! Terrific sea shell picture, and that’s exactly what I do too! It also leads me to dream that someday the Flicker Chicks should hit the beach! It’s only appropriate! : ) Talked to Marsha, she’s interested in October too. I’ll get back to you!
OH! And that’s the second time someone posted Still for me to see. I think the Lord might be telling me something!!!! Love it! I go outside to remember Him. I see Him in the sunlight, the trees, the sky.
Oh Julie,
I prayed the Lord would bless someone with this video as much as it blessed me. Praise God, He did it for you!
Looking forward to our October excursion!
From My Heart to Yours,
Janis
Thanks so much for sharing this.
I love that verse, and the reminder that the shells can draw us back to the sea..and love singing this song when it comes up in the worship team.
Living by the beach, I just adore this WFW. Only, we don’t have shells, especially not beautiful ones like your picture.
Beautiful song too Janis. I know most of Hillsong songs, but have not heard this one… it is very soothing.
Bless you dear one, this WFW!
When God seems far away, I look for Him in His Word. Just today I had some “issues” I was praying about. I wrote down my thoughts, and ended by saying, “Please become REAL to me.” Then when I opened my Bible, and did my daily read-through passages, RIGHT THERE were EXACTLY the verses I needed to hear. It was like He SPOKE to me! Oh Lord, thank you for Your gracious Presence – for the REALITY of who You are, even when You seem far away.
Thanks for sharing, Janis!
GOD BLESS!
One of my favorite songs and verses. Thanks so much for the reminder.
Blessings,
Jennifer

GORGEOUS picture Janis!
You know it’s funny, I believe He pulls us back so that we will have no other option than to “be still.” Being present is usually what we’ve forgotten to do…
I LOVE this and it’s a reminder that I can certainly use!
peace!

Absolutely beautiful post. Love the picture and the encouragment from God’s Word.
Thanks Janis! Now living in the hills of WV, I often miss the Gulf shores. Your picture reminds me of not only stilling myself before Him but of His faithfulness to reach down touching my emptiness.
blessings,
Linda
Thanks for sharing this Janis. So much turbulence in my life. I need to remember to apply this verse!
I find Him in the silence. Always.
Thank you for seeing the way you do.
Beautiful song!!! Great post!! Happy WFW!!
Thank you each for sharing the way you find peace in the Lord. His way of meeting us is as unique as His creation of us.
From My Heart to Yours,
Janis
Such a beautiful analogy. Happy WFW!
I have a basket (well a big shell) of shells on my dresser. I love to take them out and hold them, feel the smooth and rough spots, the bumps and ridges.
It is indeed in the stillness that we find Him, watching, waiting, open arms to gather us in.
