For Where Your Treasure Is….
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 NIV
I thought I would simply be changing the name of my blog to “Heart-Filled Moments.” But as I chewed on this idea for a long time, it became evident to me that the Lord wanted me to change something different–the direction of my heart.
I wanted a new blog name. Something fancy. Something feminine. Something that would catch the reader’s eye and heart. The Lord, however, wanted to catch my heart and draw me closer to Him. I have felt His tug as I listened with a hungering heart to our Women’s summer Bible Study, “Annointed, Transformed, and Redeemed.”
This week Beth Moore spoke ardently through the video about our lives being transformed by God. “God is not interested in just adjusting our lives,” she said. He wants us transformed.”
She implored us to NOT think that transformation could come from any good idea we have or any effort on our part. Transformation takes place only when the work is done by the Lord. The change is so out of our realm of ability that it is evident to ourselves and others that only God could have changed us so dramatically.
I left Bible Study last Tuesday night wanting to drench myself in God’s word. My soul hungered to read chapters, not just verses, simply for the pleasure of being in His word and His presence.
As I change the title of this blog, I need to pursue God and make sure that this is not just my good idea but that the change is something He desires from the title to the writing.
I liked the way The Message translates this section of Matthew that talks about our heart and its treasures.
“Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths and corroded by rust or–worse!~stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.” Matthew 6:19-21 The Message (c) 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved. Now that you have “opened your Ears, to the Lord,” you are now hearing from Him and being transformed by Him, and now, you are able to share those “Heart Filled Moments,” with others and truly be a blessing!!!
Thanks for sharing!!! I love you,
Ceal
My dearest friend, Ceal~You are always an encouragement to me. Thank you for the validation that I am walking where the Lord desires. Hope all is well with you. Love you and miss you.

Dear Janis
I have been telling my husband the same thing the other day. Our Pappa does not taken the sin filled us and make it better; no He comes to live in us and give us a new spirit. Then He lives ahis life in and through us. Otherwise it would not be the fruit of the His Spirit, but the fruit of our self efforts!
Much love XX
Mia
Mia~you are so right! If we are filled with ourselves and our efforts, there’s no room for the Lord to be honored and glorified in our lives.
From My Heart to Yours,
Janis
Transformation is something I’ve been studying and reading about lately. And Beth Moore is so right. How thankful I am that it’s God’s work and not something I can do to be better. His grace is so amazing! I simply need to believe and submit myself to Him. I love when He works in me and through me to reach others for His glory.
I think we’re on the same page Janis!
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Debbie~It is amazing when the Lord works through us to reach others for Him. May He use me more!

I love seeing the Lord work–changing our hearts to more clearly share Him. Blessings on you as you study God’s Word and allow Him to continue to change your focus.
Pamela~Thank you for your kind thoughts about God changing my focus. I pray He’ll just draw me closer and closer.

“I left Bible Study last Tuesday night wanting to drench myself in God’s word. My soul hungered to read chapters, not just verses, simply for the pleasure of being in His word and His presence.” I’ve copied that Janis because this is how I’ve felt this week too. Messages from time with my small group and our pastor’s series on grace have me thirsting for more of Him. I loved this—“drench myself in God’s word.” Thank you for sharing. I was blessed by your heart here.
Very good, Janis. It is evident that God is truly tugging at your heart. Phil 1:6. Have a fruit-filled day like a sandwich of God’s word and our heart!! Karen
Thanks, Karen! I love your analogy 🙂

Beautiful photo and sharing of your heart here.
It is amazing how God can use our weakness as He transforms us to show His strength. I love it so much!
