Christ Died For the Ungodly

“Jacob’s Dream”, a sculpture at Abilene Christian University, Texas draws one to the Light breaking through the sculpture that forms a cross. |
“You see, at just the right time, when we were powerless, Christ died for the ungodly…”Romans 5:6 NIV
So often we hear Scriptures about Christ’s love for us even before we were saved but like words we’ve heard so frequently, they fail to register with our hearts. Yesterday, the Scriptures in Romans 5:1-11 struck a spot in my heart that had withered. Had not been watered in a long time.
Not only did this Word of God remind me of how much God loved me before I ever cared about Him, but how much He loves those now whom I might think unworthy of His love, or those who have hurt me, or those I really don’t care about.
It sounds cold to say that those feelings exist in my heart, but God’s mercy brought them to light.
I read on:
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NIV
Lord, in Your Great Love for me, You died for me while I was still a sinner. And you love me every day when I still sin. Your love is overwhelming and reassuring. You do have Your hand on me. And You love everyone whom You have made.
I am so grateful that I was one of the ungodly for whom Christ shed His blood to make me clean and gave His life to give me eternal life with Him.
May my heart meditate on Your love, Lord, this week before Easter.

Wow, what a fantastic sculpture. I’m sure my hubby wishes it had been there back in the 50s when he was a student there. He really loved that school. The scriptures and remarks in this post are “right on.”
Blessings,
Charlotte
Amen, well written.
Unique sculpture with a powerful story. And like you I am so happy the Lord died because He loves me. I am a daughter of the King 🙂
Love the story and photos. Thanks so much for sharing this! Happy Easter to you and your family!
