A New Home
My keyboard clicks out the first few words in my new surroundings and I feel the excitement. Those butterflies swirling around with anticipation of walking out onto a new stage–a new platform. I gaze up at the blue ribbons dancing above my head and floating around my side. And once again, I’m a self-conscious teenager gliding across the gym floor, dressed for the winter ball in a stylish smooth satin bodice with a poofy skirt. The crystal globe sparkles light across the dance floor similar to the way these ribbons swirl the light of joy around my new home.
I’m so happy you have come to visit in my new home where we can share heart-to-heart and listen for the Lord’s loving whispers. Grab a cup of steamy coffee or maybe a special brew of tea in one your china cups. Kick off any stiff formal attire, curl your legs under you on a soft, cozy chair and we’ll chat about the Lord. How He delights in us. How He comforts us and carries us through every storm. He’s our strong fortress. He protects us and sees us and covers us under His pinions. He is our saving grace.
I love the verses that describe how the Lord delights in us. My favorite one that could hang on a wall in this home is Zephaniah 3:17:
“The Lord your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.” NIV
In the New Living Translation, the verse reads:
“For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
Don’t these verses give you a sense of peace? Something like having a balm poured over you while Jesus carries you in His arms.
Which verse would you like to share that really makes you sense His rejoicing and protection over you?
I look forward to moments ahead when we can share treasures from God’s Word. Sometimes to encourage. Sometimes to comfort. Sometimes to guide. Sometimes to pray for each other.
Thank you for visiting today. I hope you return soon to our comfy, feminine home.

Janis – I didn’t realize it was you at first! I LOVE your new home! What a beautiful site has been created for you! May He bless you and your writing here & cause it to thrive and speak to many.
A verse that has been speaking to me this week… “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” (Ps. 62:8). I have been so struck that it says, “at all times”. So grateful for our God who is our refuge, our place of safety and protection.
I am excited for all that God has for you in the days ahead!
Blessings,
Joanne
PS – is that a photo of your home? It is beautiful!
Thank you for visiting, Joanne. This new home is a creative blessing.
I pray the Lord will bless the writing here as well.
That photo of the home on this page was taken on a side road during one of our trips to Carmel, CA. Isn’t it charming?
Blessings to you,
Janis
I love your new “digs”. Janis you have a gift and I am so glad you are sharing it. The joy in your words is evidence of the joy you have in what you are sharing. I reminds me of Eric Liddel in “Chariots of Fire” who said “When I run I feel His pleasure” Keep running girl! I’m proud of you and thanks for directing me to the King!
Thank you my dear friend, Julie. Your words encourage. May I always feel His pleasure as I write. What a great image to have in front of me as I write! Pray I keep running!
Love you my friend,
Janis
Such a beautiful new home! Thankful to be here.
Barbie~what a special privilege to have you visit during your time of rest. I pray the words will be an encouragement always.
Praying for you, Barbie.
Blessings,
Janis

Looking forward to visiting here as much as I did your former home 🙂
Hi Marty~thank you for stopping in. We’ll have fun times visiting here.
Thank you, Janis. This really blessed me today
Wish we could be together sharing a mug of coffee or a cup of tea right now, Mary, to soothe the soul. Will keep praying for you and your hubby.
Love, Janis
I love your house! It reminds me of one I used to drive past everyday on my way to work. I also love that verse; the picture of Christ singing over me moves me to tears every single time. Bless the Lord.
Hi Ginger~Isn’t that house charming! We drove by there on our way to Carmel, CA and I just had to stop the car and take a picture. I thought the photo would complement my story here even though the house is not ours. Wish it was. Thank you for visiting. I hope to see you here again.
Blessings,
Janis
They do give me a sense of peace. I look at me and see all my faults. Jesus looks at me and delights in me. And old hymn comes to mind–“Amazing love, how can it be, that Thou my God should die for me?”
Hi Pamela, I love that song, “Amazing love, how can it be…” A good place to let our hearts rest.
Wow! Sweet! Welcome to your new place. I admire you for making the switch … any kind of change is often a really brave move!
;-}

Thank you, Linda. It is scary to make a change to a new site. I’m just grateful I had such a knowledgeable designer. And I still contact him to work out the kinks.

Old houses have a special place in my heart – there’s so many details, so many quiet nooks! Love your house!
Thanks for visiting bluecottonmemory~I wish that charming house was ours–along with the location. That house sits on a side road we took one summer on our way to Carmel in Northern California. But glad you could stop by.
Blessings, Janis
I always love the thought of how He delights in us. It just makes me feel all warm and cozy, kindof like your new home here does. Thanks for inviting us in. It is always a delight to spend time with you here. 🙂
Much love,
Beth
Thank you, Beth, for stopping by. You are always welcome to cozy up in our new home here. Working on a way to have more than just virtual tea and danish.
Blessings, Janis
What a lovely site to curl up in an easy chair and chat about what the Lord has done for us. Thank you for sharing your story with us here at “Tell me a Story.”
Yes, the house is gorgeous, and I saw that it ain’t yours. But just seeing it would make my heart explode in joy. Have seen them around and about our nation at times when I’m driving from place to place. ANYHOW, the scripture you shared was really neat. And I have many, MANY verses that I rely upon to pull me through this world and prep me for heaven… somehow focusing on the Lord instead of everything around and about me. I’d have to give you the dozens, so all I can say is that what you suggested and mentioned were very good, very heart-touching, heart-prodding towards the Lord.
Thanks much.
I love your new site! It’s beautiful and I know that God’s beautiful words are going to do amazing things here!
Lovely new place Janice. Welcome to WordPress family 🙂 You’re going to love it. I”m sure.
Love your new home, Janis. So pretty. Can’t wait to read more here in the future.
Thanks for sharing at Essential Fridays.

My dear friend Janis,
I love your beautiful words, and blessings from the Lord working in your life. Truly we want to share His blessings and speak them out loud!
LOVE the pretty house picture.
Hugs from Elaine
The verses I clung today were from Philippians 4:4-7. I don’t know what it is, but Philippians is one of my favorite letters from Paul to the churches he founded and visited.
Beautiful new website, Janis. Congratulations.
