A New Heart Reaching For the Son
I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 11: 19. NIV
When my mother was in the hospital more than 14 years ago, I listened to this song over and over again. I needed the Lord’s heart beating in my heart to endure the months long trial of her illness. I needed to know His closeness, His forgiveness, His restoration, His presence in the darkness. It gave me such hope.
Within the last month, the tune began playing in my heart. I didn’t recognize it at first. I would hum a few bars and try to place it. Then the words came like a flood–a heart like mine. My heart cried out, thirsting for His nearness, His heart to beat in mine, His cleansing, His renewing of my heart.
May you be blessed as you listen. Even if our hearts are “twisted and broken”, He still offers us a “new heart”.
Please join me tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 17, for an “In Real Life” experience where I had the opportunity to meet one of my favorite bloggers and friend, Sharon of Sharon Sharing God. You’ll feel just like you were there by the ocean with us. Hope to see you then.

Hi Janice,
I think it is such a blessing when God places a song in our heart that perfectly fits the situation we are going through! 🙂
Lovely song; hadn’t heard this before. Thanks for sharing! How exciting to meet one of your blogger friends; enjoy your time together!
Blessings and joy,
Denise
Dear Janice,
I’ve never heard this song. It’s beautiful. I prayed this Ezequiel verse for my youngest sweet daughter that walked away from the Lord. He was so faithful and has answered my prayer. I’m now praying for my son-in-law…the same prayer…I’m waiting faithfully and obediently,,,,
Thank you for sharing this beautiful post and reminder of God’s faithfulness.
Blessings,

when we are hurting or going through fiery trials, there is a closeness with God… because we NEED Him. in times of plenty and peace, i can find myself drifting, thinking less often of the One who carries me and never leaves me. there are blessings in brokenness!
I never heard this song before now. But it is beautiful. I love it when God places a song on our hearts. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I look forward to reading your post tomorrow. It’s such fun to meet another blogger in person. One day you and I will meet too.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
wonderful post, what a great way to begin a Sunday Spirit of worship. Thank you for the beautiful song and glorious pictures.
DEAR FRIEND,
The thought that we are loved, redeemed and and restored by the God of the universe is amazing. You and I have shared our wonder of His grace and goodness in our life. His faithful presence has not only been our strength but our refuge through the trials and our source of joy in seeing Him through it all. I’m glad to have a sister who knows my King as well as I do.
Love you,
Julie
I love Bryan Duncan…we heard him do this live many years ago. Beautiful photo too!
I can see why this song was such a blessing to you. It’s my first time to hear it but it won’t be the last. How many times I race to God’s embrace. He’s always there with arms open.
Have a blessed week,
Pamela
It’s amazing how songs can bring back so many memories. I don’t recall hearing this song before. It is really beautiful. Thank you for sharing the beautiful song and your heart.

Oh how I am thankful that we can come to Him as we are and find ourselves made new!
Hi Janis
Loved listening to this song. Thank you for sharing. The lord blessed me with two songs at church today, which I have shared on my blog.
