A Twist on Blog Hops Introducing Three Bloggers

Janis Van Keuren

Does it ever seem that the Lord has to give you a push before you participate in some writing event, conference, or opportunity before you actually show up, skid marks scrapping the floor where you just dragged your feet? It was like that when

Asking in Prayer

Janis Van Keuren

Google Images from cvsfkuantan.blogspot.com      This is the second part of the series on Prayer.     Prayer is the ultimate privilege of speaking to God as our Father, our Daddy.  Jesus referred to this relationship with God as one that is as personal as the one we would have with our own Dad.  When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He said to address God as “Father”, using a word that translated in English means “a nourisher, protector, upholder”* (Matthew … Continue reading →

Celebrating One Year

Janis Van Keuren

Time to celebrate a journey that began with feeble steps, weak knees, and cry to the Lord sort of like Moses, “I don’t think I can do this..” But the Lord said, “Follow me and trust me.” So here I am one year later, amazed at all I have learned and the many online friendships that have resulted from accepting this challenge.     First of all, I knew nothing about blogging or how to set up a blog. All I … Continue reading →

Are you looking for peace?

Janis Van Keuren

by ANGEL346ram     What is riddling your heart with worries today?  Do you have a loved one who has walked away from the Lord?  Is your marriage not what you hoped it would be?  Does a spouse or child have a terminal disease?  Are you grieving?  What is your hurt and pain?      Come to Jesus and drink of His peace moment by moment.  We all need His peace.     “There is a future for the man of peace,” Scripture tells … Continue reading →

Time for A Review

Janis Van Keuren

Welcome Friends from 31dbbb and Readers,      Pull up a chair, sit right down, and let’s have a cup of coffee together this morning.  I am really looking forward to comments, suggestions, ideas, tips, and techniques for creating a better blog.  So here come the questions: What is your opinion of the design layout?  Do you like the borders or should I find something else to frame the sides?  Does the color complement my theme? What suggestions do … Continue reading →

Watch a First-Time Reader Use Your Blog: Your Turn to Vote–Day 17 of 31dbbb

Janis Van Keuren

Wrote the guest post today at  http://blog.ourchurch.com/2010/05/25/31dbbb-day-17-watch-a-first-time-reader-use-your-blog/ .  My friend and neighbor, Joyce, volunteered to play guinea pig and help me with this project by reviewing my blog.  She is almost a first-time reader.  Would have been until I asked her to participate in my project.  However, she is new enough to qualify.     Joyce and I spent about a half hour together Sunday afternoon while she scoured my blog.  She used a  gentle cleaning agent.  I peered … Continue reading →

Just Like My Father

Janis Van Keuren

Our youngest son has been recruited by our friends to help them with some yard work at their home and rental properties.  He has always been a hard worker but is finding it difficult to land a part-time job this summer. The economy has affected everyone but especially hard-hit are college students like our son.       Last week, our friends had him heaving river rock so that stubborn weeds could be removed.  He worked 4 hours in the Arizona … Continue reading →

PLAN PLAN PLAN–Day 12 of 31 dbbb

Janis Van Keuren

I have a friend who always told me, “Plan Your Work; Work Your Plan.  Easy for her.  I am not disciplined.  A “fly by the seat of your pants” kind of person.  I feed on the spontaneity of the moment.  Then crash when I’m crunched up against a deadline.  Everyone around the house scurries to help me make my deadline when we have company coming.  And because of their generosity and love, company arrives with smiles on OUR faces! … Continue reading →

Talking in Circles–Day 11 of 31dbbb

Janis Van Keuren

Today’s workshop assignment involved coming up with 10 new post ideas that we could spin off of a previous post.  Scribbling circles around my paper, the center of this balloon fest focused on today’s post that I wrote: Prayer–A Gift From God.  Looking like a chemistry explanation, the center exploded with ideas for 10 new posts. Because I am not adept at technical stuff (and my kids all disappeared when they heard, “Help me with my blog”), I will … Continue reading →
