His Love Endures Forever

Janis Van Keuren

When the week threatens to drag you away from center~Jesus.     When the circumstances throw you to the edges so that you seem like a foreign remnant of your old self.     When it seems your life has been sapped from you and you just want to throw the covers over your head.     When you can’t find a breath from the Spirit within to give you the passion to write:      Remember:      “Give thanks to the Lord, for … Continue reading →

Learning to Abound in Hope

Janis Van Keuren

The chatter of more than a hundred women filled the air as we gathered for our annual retreat. Tables aglow with candles burning through hurricane holders bedecked in raspberry and black ribbons set a soft reflective mood as we meandered to our seats.     We came expecting God to touch our lives, transform our hearts, and heal our hurts. We desired to grow closer to Him We left anointed and brimming over with new found hope and joy.      … Continue reading →

His Mercies Are New as We Need Them

Janis Van Keuren

This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” Lamentations 3:21-24 NKJ

A New Chapter in His Majestic Creation

Janis Van Keuren

Four nights under the His canopy of stars. Almost five days of trekking through His forest of towering pine trees. In awe of God, I spread open His word and worshiped Him for His glorious creation that brought me peace.

He Danced Into Our Garden

Janis Van Keuren

“Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths, guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25: 4-5 NIV While sitting on our family room sofa during my quiet time with the Lord, I saw His creatures flit, hum, and chirp about our floral garden. His creation dancing through our yard filled my heart with joy and praise for the Lord. I … Continue reading →

Who Is In Control?

Janis Van Keuren

Life is full of mountaintop experiences and descents into dark valleys full of shadows and doubts. Sometimes it seems that just as we are enjoying the blessing we have been praying for, life spins out of control and lands us about 180 degrees in the opposite direction. After having tumbled from the pinnacle into the abyss, encountering several bruises and injuries on the descent, we are tempted to foist our anger toward the Lord. Why would the God who just … Continue reading →

The Mountains and Hills Burst Forth in Song

Janis Van Keuren

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thornbush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, which will not be destroyed.” Isaiah 55:12-13 NIV

The Holiness of Rest

Janis Van Keuren

My feet touch the criss-cross brick pavers with sentimental recollection. Memories of salt air brushing against my face. Walking hand-in-hand with the man I’ve loved for more years than I thought I could count. Sunsets sinking into the ocean’s horizon while we cuddle on Hawiian, floral beach towels. In this quaint, artistic town sculpted around a God-carved nook in the ocean, we once again feel the

Cinnamon Crescent Rolls

Janis Van Keuren

Years ago I concocted my own version of cinnamon toast for a tasty and easy breakfast. I took Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, unrolled them into individual pieces so there were eight triangles on a cookie sheet. Then I smeared about a teaspoon, maybe a little more, of softened butter on each triangle. I then sprinkled some sugar, about a teaspoon, over each triangle. Finally I shook cinnamon over the top of each one–to taste. I rolled up the triangles, slowly to keep … Continue reading →
